Futurebound by Kirkby Design

Kirkby Design has charted a new direction in their 2021 aesthetic – Minimal Modernity. Transitioning from the bold graphic designs of recent collections into more fluid shapes and maximal effects, exploring experimental details with touches of lux and technical finesse. Taking cues from current trends and melding fashion and extreme textures into the interiors space, Kirkby’s 2021 release conveys an on-point, contemporary approach coloured with a well-balanced, sophisticated palette.

In this four part series, the six collections feature a tight range of practical neutrals in fashionable colour shades including highly textural and tactile fabrics that are dominating home interiors at the moment.  From chunky mohair to long furry pile, Kirkby Designs strives to offer something that is a little bit unique while providing practical decorative solutions to the home décor enthusiast.

Futurebound Collection

Take a journey into the unknown with Futurebound, where cutting edge, iridescent materials meet neoclassical designs, taking inspiration from futuristic spacescapes juxtaposed with punk themed, industrial references. Futurebound is an ultramodern collection where abstract forms reminiscent of planetary surfaces adorn supple weaves, while a lustrous tartan and fluid camouflage appear on rich velvet. Glimmering metallics have the appearance of liquid metal, while a reformed damask and traditional houndstooth are modern reworks of classical references. Considerately coloured in a contemporary palette of luxe pastels with flashes of Sapphire blue and warm Peridot, these avant-garde fabrics are propelled into their own stratosphere.

Optimus

A modern hint to a classic design, matt and shiny yarns combine to create a pixelated damask design with a contemporary, digital edge. A tumbled finish gives the cloth a soft handle for drapery, as well as a relaxed, casual feel, and an almost three-dimensional appearance to the design.

Pendulum

Two worlds collide as natural linen appears to have been dipped in liquid metal; the shine of the metallic tones contrasts with the dryness of the relaxed, linen quality. This is a wide-width room high product that should be hung from the selvedge as the design graduates from one selvedge to the other. The metallic detailing is intended to be displayed at the bottom of the fabric.
