Majorelle | Catherine Martin by Mokum

The collection references Jardin Majorelle, Yves Saint Laurent’s enchanting retreat designed by living legend Jacques Grange in Marrakesh, famed for its sophisticated and exotic interior design, brilliant blue exterior and magnificent gardens. Majorelle also pays homage to Catherine’s French heritage and love affair with French culture, design and interior architecture.

The Majorelle collection brings Catherine Martin’s extraordinary designs to a wider consumer audience, being suitable for both residential and commercial applications.

Aleuj is a deconstructed stripe using our favoured fil coupe weaving style, adding intricacy through bindings and woven within a semi-transparent linen ground. Aleuj takes its name from a traditional embroidery style originating in the province of Fez, in keeping with the collections Moroccan influence.

Inspired by traditional French lace, Aleuj is woven in five soft natural colourways, creating a sophisticated and subdued window treatment.

Our classic tiger skin is woven in Europe in a contemporary velvet jacquard construction. The spine motifs are recessed within the lustrous viscose pile and edged with a fine shadow line to create further dimension. Bengal Tiger is coloured to beautifully coordinate with our velvet plain Bespoke and Leopardo for the wild at heart!

Our divine textured velvet Bespoke was inspired by a desire to create the ultimate luxury velvet – one with both a linen velvet aesthetic and a soft and sumptuous handle. Bespoke was carefully constructed with a viscose pile creating a lustrous, plush finish and antiqued surface.

Custom dyed to deliver an extensive, fashion forward palette; Bespoke offers an array of beautiful neutrals and opulent theatrical tones. The palette includes Catherine Martin’s signature red, in honour of Bazmark’s famed Red Velvet Trilogy: Strictly Ballroom, Romeo and Juliet and Moulin Rouge.

Hammam is a small-scale coordinate to our hero pattern, Majorelle. A classic Arabic star tile repeat, Hammam provides a multi-coloured, small scale geometric to Mokum’s growing range of upholstery patterns. Hammam is named after a traditional Eastern bath house and speaks to the exotic Marrakesh inspiration of this collection.

Coloured to coordinate seamlessly with Majorelle, Hammam’s palette is made complete with two extra grey based neutrals, Marble and Marcasite.

Our Arabic star tile is embroidered to create a playful multi-coloured ribbon. Hammam Ribbon is suitable for edging drapery treatments, enhancing fixed upholstery and accessories.

La Palma features both banana and fan palms, rhythmically swaying in the tropical breeze. Digitally printed to capture the delicate layers of this hand painted design, the wide width 100% linen base cloth enhances the depth of texture of this luxury tropical textile.

Created in six divine colours, La Palma’s palette ranges from romantic pastels, to fresh aqua’s and deep emeralds, made complete with a brooding sepia shade reminiscent of tropical flora during the golden hours of dawn and dusk. Surround yourself in a tropical paradise all year round with this dramatic painterly design.

Our co-ordinating wallpaper design, La Palma Wallpaper has been digitally printed onto a pre-embossed paper-based vinyl. The scale of the textile has been captured through printing onto a 68.5 cm wide roll. The faux linen emboss speaks to 1950s bark cloth prints and adds further dimension to this dramatic and playful tropical print.

Each colourway of La Palma Wallpaper has been coloured to match the coordinating textile.

A perennial interior design favourite, leopard skin is currently enjoying a prolific return in luxury fashion. Catherine’s take on this textile classic, named Leopardo, is woven in a glamorous Italian jacquard with a sateen weave ground, allowing the iconic leopard spot to sit proudly in luminous viscose chenille.

Coloured in exotic and classic colourways and offered in both tonal and contrasting combinations, Leopardo is a perfect solution for schemes that require a subtle, small scale pattern or dramatic statement piece – depending on your colour choice!

A section of our leopard skin pattern, Leopardo, has been carefully placed and embroidered to create an exotic luxury trimming. Leopardo Ribbon is coloured to coordinate back with our Leopardo upholstery and is suitable for edging drapery treatments, enhancing fixed upholstery and accessories. 

Our hero design and namesake of the collection, Majorelle pays homage to Yves St Laurent’s exotic Marrakesh gardens, Jardin Majorelle. The surface pattern is mirrored and repeated to reflect detailed Arabic tile systems. Majorelle has been woven in a beautifully antiqued construction with rhythmic binding to create even more complexity within the pattern. Majorelle sits effortlessly with our Italian basket weave plain, Medina, through elegant yet organic textures and subtle colour combinations. 

The colour palette ranges from a stunning soft opal through to a spirited sapphire, taking influence from Majorelle’s iconic cobalt blue paint shade. Turquoise pays homage to Catherine Martin’s signature combinations of red and turquoise, seen in her work with the famed Faena Hotel in Miami.

Our co-ordinating wallpaper takes us in a more painterly direction, further exploring traditional hand painted tile inspiration. Majorelle Wallpaper uses digital technology to capture the watercolour paint effects and is printed onto a pre-embossed paper-based vinyl for durability.

The faux linen emboss adds further dimension to this intricate design, reflecting the surface irregularities of authentic Oriental tiled walls. The colour palette mirrors the coordinating Majorelle textile and includes a bold deep emerald green.

Like Bespoke, Medina provides the perfect foundation for an interior scheme. This Italian basket weave is woven in a considered, tonal colour palette to provide an elegant and appropriate basecloth on which to layer the pattern designs from the Majorelle collection. Medina has been calendared to create a sophisticated subtle sheen and suits both a classic and contemporary aesthetic.  

Metallique is a glamorous textured drapery woven in light and dark metallic tones. Metallique’s dimensional construction, reminiscent of hammered metal, is juxtaposed by a soft elegant drape. Metallique offers a sophisticated and opulent window treatment which is perfectly suited to the current interior trend of metallic embellishment.

Palais has a shimmering, scalloped motif with a subtle pearl drop detail. This Italian drapery design conjures memories of Art Deco palace archways with beautiful weathered patina. Woven on a fine linen warp, the motifs are created in lustrous viscose yarns resulting in a delicate two-toned effect.

An intricately drawn shagreen design has been carefully placed within a finely cut metallic diamond border. Shagreen Wallpaper has been printed using metallic and matte inks to further enhance the skin pattern and add glamour to the diamond inlay, reflecting the global trend of metallic embellishment within the interior space.

Printed onto a smooth paper-based vinyl, Shagreen Wallpaper is the perfect balance of organic and contemporary, suitable for both residential and commercial application. The diamond geometric is universal; as everyone knows diamonds truly are a girl or boys best friend!

A contemporary take on a traditional moiré. A classic moiré is generally created during the finishing process via heated emboss rollers. Trianon reinterprets this traditional technique by weaving a moiré inspired surface pattern in a dimensional construction, creating the illusion of a watermark.

Trianon’s extensive palette offers soft light naturals, feminine boudoir mid-tones, sophisticated dark neutrals and bold theatrical tones to coordinate with the bold combinations throughout this collection. (Trianon is also available in a polyester FR construction for custom commercial projects).

Our Trianon Wallpaper utilities a horizontal emboss effect to replicate the dimension of our coordinating textile. The moiré pattern is further enhanced via printing both matte and pearlescent inks to create a subtle and sophisticated wallpaper design.
