After numerous partial renovations the clubhouse at the Coffs Harbour Golf Course in sunny New South Wales has been given a new lease of life by interior designer Kylie Mackay.

First engaged by the club to transform the tired space into an environment players will feel motivated to utilise, Kylie has achieved a cohesive design concept that offers visual interest and tactile elements. Re-energizing the dining spaces and re-establishing the club as a function and conference venue.

Taking inspiration from the expansive tree-lined course, hinterland, and coastal location the client wanted to offer members and guests a more personal less club-like experience.

Kylie brought the club’s vision to life and created a variety of spaces, ranging from casual to more sophisticated, through combinations of colour, pattern, and texture.

To execute the design and to bring a freshness to the club rooms, Kylie specified Mokum fabrics throughout. The scheme of graphic monochromes complements the woven Axminster carpet and high-performance textiles which are suitably durable for a public club that sees a lot of foot traffic.

We see Nomadic Outdoor colour Onyx and Tribe colour Jute in the casual dining area, while in the function space South Beach Stripe colour Charcoal features alongside our eye-catching La Palma Wallpaper. Providing a point of interest and adding a sophisticated coastal element in colour Midnight, Kylie notes “we are known as a banana town (Big Banana), so it was a bit of a play on that too.”
