Conscious of our limited natural resources and the need to reduce the carbon footprint of manufacturing wherever possible, Action Manufacturing commissioned Auckland-based furnishing specialists Starfish Interiors to integrate recycled or upcycled materials into their new electric motorhome.
Steven Cherrie, Director of Starfish Interiors, sees the desire to reduce the carbon footprint by specifying recycled materials as a natural result of the growing prevalence of electric vehicles, both generally and within the motorhome industry.
“The desire to inspire the end customer to look towards the recycled industry without compromising on quality or comfort was front and centre in mind. Each design consideration, such as backrest profile or seat depth, was specified to ensure a relaxing experience,” says Steven.
“After a long drive exploring New Zealand, turning off the engine and walking a few steps into a cosy suite that feels like home is the best feeling. Therefore, using soft, warm, domestic-feeling fabrics was essential.”
Working in collaboration with Action Manufacturing, inspiration came from Raglan, one of the North Island’s most iconic beaches. The deep blues of the water, light blue of the sky, off-white waves, and golden sunsets influenced the colour palette of the motorhome.
