An elegant new build affectionately known as ‘Black Beauty’ on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula just outside of Melbourne, is the gorgeous home to Steve Cahill from Cahill Builders, his wife and three young children.
Steve and his wife Lucy wanted to create something special for the family and one that embraced the sea views and nearby beach surrounds. Using the shell of the home as the foundation, the family engaged Kate Walker Designs to transform the basic and plain interiors after finding her work suited their aesthetic.
Kate took inspiration from the European farmhouse style of home while ensuring spatial decisions, colours and finishes were thoughtfully considered and the best quality to ensure a lasting result.
The interiors incorporate colours in deep greens and teals offset by neutral tones along with plenty of texture.
The baby’s nursery makes use of the ceiling to creative affect with Mokum Peonia wallpaper, a soft and feminine floral that really works well on a large surface.
Window treatments are stunningly designed by Lynch’s Window Fashions where Mokum Satori drapes were selected throughout the home and perfectly complemented the elements within each individual space. Mokum Satori is a sumptuous and energetic, wide-width stonewashed linen woven in 100% linen, expertly stonewashed, then softly tumbled to create its perfectly dynamic handle.
