A homeowner’s beautiful glassware collection accumulated from their extensive travels were pivotal in developing the aesthetic of a Mt Eden apartment at The Pines in Auckland, New Zealand.
Magnificent crystal which beautifully reflects the light, some of which have gold and bronze accents and handmade textural elements, formed a colour palette throughout the home’s interior scheme, bought to fruition by mother and daughter duo Schwarz Design.
The homeowner’s (a pilot), richly travelled life and appreciation for a luxurious hotel aesthetic was key to the home where each room in the apartment illustrates a cohesive story evocative of a modern, urban New York space.
While a refined look and feel was paramount to the client, functionality was also a key priority with regards to lighting, space and storage.
The apartment was purchased unrenovated with spectacular views of both the Waitemata and Manukau Harbours nestled into the side of Mount Eden. The brief was to create a simple and elegant space where, between their travels the owners could enjoy entertaining friends and showing off their display of lifetime collections.
The result of this thoughtful design was a central open plan living space with multiple settings for entertaining and living, centred around the breath-taking views, with a second casual living room for relaxed evenings watching movies.
