Function and durability were key criteria in the redesign of this young family’s sophisticated home in Rowayton, Connecticut.
The homeowner herself had a background in the design industry, so naturally, she was brainstorming ideas in her head from the get-go. Enlisting Townsend & Co Interiors worked to refine ideas, consider the details, and source the components to deliver a cohesive space.
“My client has a great eye for colour and pattern, and an untamed enthusiasm for design,” says lead interior designer Townsend Lloyd. “It is always fun to work with someone really passionate about their project and who understands the power of good design.”
The kitchen was redesigned entirely, transforming a dark, narrow area into a bright, fresh space. The client extended the back of the house to enable a custom built-in breakfast banquette and centre island to take centre stage.
The client chose Mokum’s Eternal fabric in Aluminium and French Blue colourways for the throw pillows, and Strata in Charcoal for the squabs. These durable, comfortable textiles provided a pop of colour in an otherwise neutral space.
