It was a 10-year goal of Nashville-based interior designer April Tomlin to purchase a home in Alys Beach, Florida, a place she has always loved and where she can breathe and relax from her busy, hectic work schedule.
April opened the doors of her design business, April Tomlin Interiors, just over ten years ago. Since then, her texturized and distinctive style has attracted a roster of A-list clientele, and she's designed some of the city's most celebrated retail spaces.
As luck would have it, an original home in Alys Beach came on the market that April just couldn't pass up. "We saw such potential that would be so easy to accomplish," she says. “With April Tomlin Interiors' increasing workload in the Alys area, it made sense. It also offered the ability to stay and work from my own home and have my kids tag along too."
The brief for the beach house was to create a peaceful experience since Alys is a vacation spot. April was eager to include some artistic plays in the home.
The Mokum La Palma fabric bed wall was a significant artistic element in the home and April's favorite splurge.
"You can see the bedroom from the front door, and as your eyes look across the spaces from the front door, you mostly see natural neutral textures and materials, and then you see this powerful bed wall. It's a pretty dynamic experience," says April.
