The Lake Burton Showhouse is presented annually by Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Magazine, showcasing leading designers in the southeastern United States. In 2025, Lisa Sanchez of Nota Bene Design Studio reimagined the porch as a liveable outdoor retreat, where modern design embraces its natural surroundings.

To create a functional yet welcoming extension of the home where comfort and style blend, Lisa looked to her Caribbean heritage. “I carried that influence into the porch through thoughtful use of colour and materiality, shaping a relaxed yet elevated retreat that feels both personal and refined.”

Pure linen drapes in James Dunlop’s Laconia Air form a gentle backdrop to the space, with squabs and cushions in Elba and Abstraction Outdoor by Mokum. “The palette was rooted in earthy neutrals with accents of golden yellow and soft terracotta, balanced with natural textures and materials to reflect the surrounding landscape.”

Each fabric was selected to build the colour, texture, style, and depth of the Nota Bene design vision. “Together, they grounded the design while creating an inviting atmosphere for outdoor living that showcases my studio’s approach to layered, story-driven design.”
