Spectacular spectacular!
The Royal Menagerie collection by Catherine Martin by Mokum launched this August in Sydney. Presented in partnership with Designer Rugs the affair was a nostalgic celebration of 1970s glamour and the enduring cultural presence of Elvis Presley.

THE VIGNETTES
Beta Events was transformed into the glamourous vignettes of our decadent photoshoot. Guests traversed the space from the whisky pink and palm leaf greens of La Palma to areas of golden velvet and Moroccan blues, pink and black tiger skins, and our own tropics-infused jungle.
An array of jewel-toned cushions in Bengal Tiger, Leopardo, Jungle Room, Panthera, and Monarque adorned sofas covered in Mokum's plush Monarque velvet and Grande Boucle.
In celebration of modern Australian design, Grazia & Co’s furniture was accessorized with vases and tableware by Dinosaur Designs and Maison Balzac, atop Axminster carpets from Catherine Martin’s Majorelle collection, created in collaboration with Designer Rugs.
Bespoke visuals by Chris Tangney, theatre maestro and Catherine Martin’s 2IC at Bazmark Inq., provided a rhinestone-studded backdrop intertwining Catherine’s textile creations with Baz Luhrmann’s film Elvis.

THE HUXLEYS
Spectacularly camp visual and performance artists Will and Garrett Huxley of The Huxleys brought theatre to the event, entertaining and dancing with our guests throughout the evening. Featuring more than one costume change the pair emerged sparkling in paisley print and creamy ruffles, then as hot pink cuckoos, and finally embellished in black and gold sequins.
The artistic duo has exhibited and performed internationally, and their work is included in significant permanent collections across Australia. With a practice that blurs the lines of costume and set design, photography, film, and performance their work offers “a visual assault of sparkle, surrealism and the absurd, The Huxleys saturate their practice and projects with a glamorous, androgynous freedom which sets out to bring some escapism and magic to everyday life.” A magic befitting our maximalist collection and the legendary stage costumes of Elvis Presley.
