The Alpine collection is inspired by the mountainous regions of New Zealand and in particular the Tongariro National Park.
Alpine by James Dunlop
This collection explores the reconnection to nature and embraces inspiration drawn directly from the great outdoors. Volcanic landforms, domes, cones and lava create a vivid and dynamic landscape, influencing the surface designs of the collection. At a macro level, the alpine herb garden, a diversity of plants with delicate forms and rich colours inspired both pattern and scale in Alpine.
Tongariro is constantly scarred, scorched and beaten by the rapid weather moods of the region and this constant re-shaping of its landscape provides a wondrous colour palette to draw from. Let us take you on a journey of discovery, from the mountainous beech forests to the harsh volcanic landforms and rocky terrain, with a stunning selection of warming upholsteries, stormy draperies and small-scale designs.
New Zealand’s first national park and the fourth to be established in the world, Tongariro was gifted by the Indigenous people to the people of New Zealand in 1887. The park and its mountains (Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and part of Ruapehu) cover 80,000 ha and it has been classified as a UNESCO Dual World Heritage area due to its natural and cultural status. It is a treasure to behold.
INVERSION
A small-scale textural plain which sits alongside Terrain. The construction emphasises the colour contrast of the yarns, creating texture and dimension to the design. Inversion has a tonal colour palette influenced by autumnal tones and is a perfect base to suit classic and contemporary interiors.
TECTONIC
As the name suggests, Tectonic is a woven interpretation of the earth’s movement and the formation of peaks. This small-scaled pattern offers texture and contrast, with a colour palette reinforcing the landscapes’ dramatic heritage. It is rated as a commercial quality and is able to be spot cleaned.
BREEZE
This design reflects the calm of early dawn when the mist rises and the sun begins to warm the air. Breeze speaks to this simple moment in time, offering a plain, soft, textured sheer. Neutral tones compliment the quality, creating a soft colour option which can be layered or used singularly.
